Bill Darron told me about this site at the WAER 50th anniversary reunion a couple of years ago, but I forgot to visit until today. Duh. Information overload.
It's only when I think of WAER that I wish I knew then what I know now. The rest of the time, I remember that I still don't know anything.
Write to me and say "Hi." 1983 is just a click away.

WAER Died in 1983. David Anderson and Melvin "Chumly" Eggers killed it. They should have been assasinated!!! In Syracuse, the more things change, the more they suck! Why is it that nothing good lasts in Syracuse? The better something is, the sooner you can could on it disappearing. WAER was the last contact Syracuse had with the real world; it suggested that there was life beyond malls and overpriced educations and Marshall Street (except Cosmo's, of course...). The pre-death staff of WAER was world class: Mike Shore, Eric Arnum, Dele Fadele, Gil Flumerfelt, Bill Darron, Melissa Green and others, the good ones who know who they are. I miss those days dearly, and get angry everytime I think about it STILL. There was talk of blowing up the building at the time... loose talk. But would it have been so wrong to just END it there instead of watching it limp off into the sunset as a weak elevator jazz muzak snore-a-thon? I remember it all, and it was good. Better than you could know. Cetainly better than anything you will ever know if you werent there to enjoy it. It was only a radio station. But what a goddamn radio station it was...

So, WAER lives after all! I was trying to think of other
sites to ask to link here. Maybe WJPZ
(http://borogove.syr.edu/pulse/pulse.html)? Maybe other radio
related sites (www.440.com, etc.) or Syr. sites?

Might be a good idea to follow where the Senior Staff and
others ended up. Anyone call Sean McD. yet?
