How Do I Switch?

Do you have a web site?  Are you happy with it?   Does it give you what you want?  If you think that we can help, just fill out the form and contact us.  It is easy to move your site to our servers. Here's the process:

Looping animated diagram of the domain switch process

Sign a Contract

We need a down payment of $100 to either set up your server from scratch or to transfer from another service.  Once you have signed a contract, we are ready to start.

We Install Your Server

As you may know, every machine on the Internet has a numeric address called an IP number.  The Internic connects names (yourcompany.com) to the number where your server is located.  We set up your server on a different IP number than what is registered with the Internic.  This means you have in fact two web sites for a short time.  Both work just fine.  Your new site can be accessed by using only the IP number and not the name.  Later, we switch the "pointer" from the Internic and then your domain name will equal the new site's address.

This means that your website never goes down.  You will always be able to see your web site on your regular "www.yourcompany.com" address

We Publish your Current Web Site to the New Address

We download your current web site from its existing server and upload it to the new server.  We check that all the links work and that all of the elements are in place.  We even do some "housekeeping" to make sure basic elements are present (meta description/keyword tags, phone number and contact info on each page, correct page titling, etc.)

If you have e-mail boxes or forwarding, we'll get the complete list from you and set it up on the server with the same configuration.

When it is Perfect we Switch the Internic Address

The person who is listed as the administrative contact on your domain can switch the location of the server by sending an e-mail to the Internic.   Within a few days of the e-mail being sent, the server addresses will be transferred.

Benefits of Switching

Technically, our hosting service is one of the best in the business.  Here's what you are getting.  Read all about the features of our hosting service.
