Greetings from The Darron Family

We're in central Poland, south of Warsaw, north of Krakow near the town of Kielce.  Why here?  Because it is outside the city where Monika's parents live in a low lying area that is good for her Dad's health.  The area looks a lot like Central New York or Ohio, with fields, small farms and some light residential areas.

Kind of like vacationing in Hunterdon County (if you are from New Jersey, you'll know what I mean.)

We flew into Warsaw last week and spent a few days there, visiting some of Monika's family and seeing the sights.  Warsaw is quite an amazing place.  It was almost completely destroyed by the Nazis during WWII and has been completely rebuilt to the way it looked before the war  We wandered the Old Town, and took a tour of the King's Palace.

August 1st marked the 61st anniversary of the Uprising, when the people of the city rose up against the weakened and retreating Germans.  A new museum has opened commemorating the struggle, and we toured it before leaving the city.

The best part about having three talented teenage daughters with digital cameras and a laptop is that there is no shortage of photography or commentary about the trip.
