Greetings from the Road!
Coming
to you live and direct from a KOA Campground in Salt Lake City after
completion of our first week on the road. The weather has been great
(a bit too hot and humid in some places) and it looks good for the next
few days.

If
you were wondering if there were really any covered bridges in Madison
County, Iowa, we can assure you that they are. In fact the county
has turned their movie fame into an industry. This bridge is in the
county park. If you have seen the film with Clint Eastwood and Meryl
Streep, rest assured that the town looks just like the film.
Headed out of Iowa, we traveled across Nebraska where we stopped at the
Chimney Rock. Then we stopped for a quick tour of Old Fort Laramie
in Wyoming.
Part of the Darron Family (Bill's Sister Sue and family) lives in
Aurora, CO. We stopped for a day in Estes Park, close to the
entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. The kids raced around in
Go Carts, bumper boats and played a round of Mini Golf. It was a
great diversion after several days of driving. The "cousins" had a
good time playing together (even if it was for such a short time.)
We all took a cable car to a small peak where we continued climbing to the
top. Everyone had a great time. [Video

Today we
visited Promontory Point in Utah (where the golden spike was driven,
finishing the Trans-Continental Railroad.)

Tomorrow we swim in the Great Salt Lake, and then head off for Zion
National Park and other points in Arizona (Grand Canyon).
If we luck out and get more campgrounds with Internet connections,
we'll send more notes and photos.
