Santa Fe, New Mexico

Eva and Maria in the square in Santa Fe. The monument at right is the point where the Sante Fe Trail ends.   Some of the oldest buildings in the United States are here, including the oldest continuously occupied Church, Chapel of San Miguel por Barrio de Analco (right).

The other old church is St. Francis Cathedral, built in the 1860's.

The whole city is a wonderful mixture of Spanish and Native American pueblo style buildings with a few European buildings thrown in as well

At right is the one of the altars inside of the St. Francis Church, and at the left is the Staircase of the Loretto chapel.  An amazing all wooden staircase with only itself as it's support.

The nicest thing about Santa Fe is that the entire town seems to have cooperated in preserving the character of the city.  Everything is built in an adobe style.  Even the modern buildings - Wal•Mart, McDonald's and gas stations - are all built of faux adobe. Monika has decided that this is the prettiest American city she has seen yet.

It was difficult to find good southwest food in the city.
I guess it is trendier to eat French food.
They did have plenty of hot peppers though
