I
was a Scout in 1979 when my troop drove across country to hike here at
Philmont, the Boy
Scout Ranch in the north of New Mexico. We were on the trail for 10
days.
Crews have been doing it
the same way for years. The countryside is really beautiful so we
stopped by so Monika and the Kids could have a look. The big
landmark is the "Tooth of Time" which is a famous landmark on the Santa Fe
Trail
The Scouts had just left for the season so we had
the whole place to ourselves. We got a very nice tour of the "big
house" or "Villa Philamonte' where Waite Phillips (the benefactor who
donated his ranch to he Scouts) had his summer home.
