Grand Canyon - North Rim, Arizona
Back Home Up Next

Yes, it really is amazing.  The size of the Grand Canyon is very overwhelming. There really isn't anything like it that I have ever seen.

The North rim is "greener" than the South rim.

There is a large log style lodge with individual cabins.  There is a long drive off the main highway past green forests and grazing wildlife on your way to the rim.

We got to the North rim before sunset and stayed long enough to see the sun go down.  Then we retreated to a campground back away from the rim.  We got up early to see the early morning sun on the canyon.  We spent a little time hanging around he lodge.

Then we started our drive to the South rim.  Although you can see it across the canyon, you need to drive a whole day to get there.

Here's a nice contrast.  The two pictures above were taken a few minutes and a few miles apart.  Such is the contrast between the North Rim and the Desert, as we headed across the canyon to the South rim.
