The next few days were spent kicking around the Franconia Notch section of New Hampshire.  It is a beautiful place and we wish we could have stayed way longer.  We stayed in the same place for two nights and visited a few of the sights.

One of the most famous is the "Man in the Mountain" which really does look like a man carved out of the side of a mountain side.  It is natural, and has been well identified over the ages.  Click on the man or the sign on the image below for a better look.

We also did a hike back to the Arethusa Falls, just a short hike off one of the highways

Lake below the Man in the MountainBeneath the Man in the Mountain is a clear lake where you can just sit on a rock and forget your troubles while the kids look for tiny fish and skip stones.

And on a hot day, you can just pull to the side of the road, throw on you suit and jump into a nearby stream to cool off.  Hours of fun with current and flat rocks.
