Day three was a busy one.

We got up and drove to the top of Whiteface Mountain

Eva and Monika at the top of Whiteface Mountain

This is where the Olympic Skiers competed during the 1980 Winter Games.

Then we drove to the Ausable Chasm.  This deep gorge carved by the Ausable River offers a good hike through the canyon and then a quick rubber raft ride down the river.

The kids fought over who was going to get the paddle, and had a blast of a time even though the river was low and we didn't see much whitewater.

The guide told us that an episode of The Perils of Pauline showing a horse jumping into the ravine was filmed here.

After leaving the Ausable Chasm, we hopped the ferry going across Lake Champlain to Vermont.
